My bus driver got lost on the way to downtown Portland yesterday

We were about 20 minutes into the route when the driver took a sudden left turn into a dead end street and had to back out into rush hour traffic. Has anyone else had a driver completely miss their route or was this just a fluke?

Wait, you're telling me this happened on a Trimet bus heading to downtown Portland? I swear I read something on Reddit a few weeks back about TriMet drivers getting rerouted through random neighborhoods due to construction near the Steel Bridge. Might be related to that mess. But honestly, sounds like your driver just missed their cue. I've had drivers take random detours before, but backing out of a dead end in rush hour traffic is a new level of wild. At least you got a story out of it, right?

Drove straight into that dead end like I was chasing a sunset or something. Tbh I just sat there thinking "well this is my life now, stuck on a bus reversing through someone's driveway." Ngl the driver handled it better than I would have, I'd probably just abandon the bus and walk home. At least my commute gave me something better to complain about than just "the weather was bad.

3 years back I was on a 72 bus heading to Alberta and the driver took a wrong turn near the convention center. We ended up in a loading dock area with no room to turn around. The driver just backed up real slow for about two blocks while everyone on the bus just sat there quiet. What worked for me was just putting my headphones in and looking at my phone like nothing was happening. No point getting worked up when you can't do anything about it anyway.
