PSA: That fancy coffee shop near Union Station is overrated
I've been going to Brew & Bean on 5th for 6 months because everyone says it's the best. But yesterday I waited 12 minutes for a latte that tasted burnt. The place by the bus stop, Daily Grind, has better coffee for $1.50 less. Am I the only one who thinks the hype is fake?

...waiting 12 minutes for a burnt latte is barely a crisis, its just a Tuesday. Brew & Bean's whole vibe is for people who want to feel fancy while drinking something that tastes like regret. Daily Grind has been there for years because they actually get it right, no one's lining up for a show. Honestly, if the worst thing that happened to you yesterday was a bad coffee, you're doing pretty good.

But is it really about the coffee or just knowing what you're getting into? Brew & Bean is overpriced but I actually like their drinks sometimes - the burnt latte thing sounds like that barista just had an off day. Daily Grind is solid but not everyone wants the same old thing every morning, yknow?

Bettyroberts has a point about the price thing but you're missing something, @janarivera. Daily Grind isn't always the same old thing. They rotate specials every week plus seasonal stuff. Brew & Bean charges four bucks for a burnt latte because they want you to feel like you're at some art gallery. The barista having an off day doesn't explain how consistent that burnt taste is. I've been there three times and it was always bad. Daily Grind's baristas actually care about the drink not the Instagram shot.

Honestly just start going to Daily Grind. I've been in that exact spot before and once you realize the expensive place is just charging you for the atmosphere it's easy to switch. Save yourself the money and the bad coffee.
