Showerthought: I used to roll my eyes at people who talked to themselves on the bus

For years, I thought it was super weird when I saw a guy named Jerry on the 42 bus muttering about his grocery list every morning. Then last week, I started narrating my own route out loud to remember where to transfer downtown. It actually helped me stop missing my stop (you know, because I was focused on a podcast). Has anyone else secretly adopted a weird commute habit they swore they'd never do?

Lean into the bluetooth call trick, it works way better than people think. I actually got caught the other day having a full debate with myself about whether to take the express or local train, and a lady next to me asked who I was talking to. I just pointed at my watch and said "my wife" even though it was just the time screen. The key is to keep your voice low and your hand near your ear, so it looks like you're on a hands-free call. For the grocery list muttering, I found that writing the key items on your phone notes works way better than trying to remember out loud.

Wait til you catch yourself having a full on argument with yourself about which bus stop is faster. I do it all the time now and pretend I'm on a bluetooth call.
