That one lady who sang opera at the train station every night for 2 weeks
There was this woman in her 60s who'd set up at the 14th Street subway stop around 6:30 PM, right in my exit path. She wasn't busking for money, she just belted out opera arias at full volume (like, windows-rattling loud). One evening she stopped mid-song, grabbed my arm, and said 'you have no idea how much this keeps me going.' I never saw her again after that 14th day. Has anyone else had a random commuter make an impression like that?

My friend saw a guy reading poetry aloud to pigeons every morning for a month.

Reading poetry aloud to pigeons" reminds me of this guy in my town who used to have full conversations with a stray cat about his taxes. It went on for weeks until the cat moved away.

Totally get where @hart.sage is coming from with that cat thing. Saw a guy at my bus stop talk to a squirrel for 15 minutes about his blood pressure meds. Weird but kind of sweet how people just need someone to listen, even if it's an animal or a stranger. That opera lady sounds intense, maybe she was working through something or just really needed to sing. Hope she figured out whatever was keeping her going.
