The day the 5:40 express turned into a rolling standup comedy show

Tuesday morning I was running late, got on the 5:40 express from Jersey City to NYC. Train stalls out between Hoboken and 33rd St for 20 minutes, everyone's pissed. Then this older guy in a Mets cap stands up and starts doing impressions of the conductor's voice over the intercom. He did the whole delay announcement in a fake British accent. Strangers started riffing off him, this one woman added sound effects with her coffee cup. By the time we moved, people were actually laughing and swapping their own worst delay stories. It was the only train delay I've ever been happy about. Has anyone else had a stranger turn a bad commute around like that, or am I just lucky?
