The folding bike I mocked for a year finally won me over in Seattle

I used to laugh at people hauling those little wheel bikes onto the bus. Looked like a toy, and I said so to my coworker every time we saw one. Then my car went into the shop for 3 weeks last March and I had to use the 44 bus from Ballard to downtown. The stop is a mile from my place and I was soaked by the time I got there. My buddy let me borrow his Brompton and honestly, the thing cuts that wet walk down to 4 minutes. I still think they look silly, but I stopped judging after I saw three other riders fold theirs up and walk right past the bike rack line. Has anyone else flipped their opinion on commute gear they thought was a gimmick?
