The night bus driver who refused to let me off at my stop

I always thought those express buses that skip stops were just a scam to make you walk further. Then last Tuesday night I was coming home from a late shift in Denver and the driver announced he'd only be stopping at the big transit center due to ice on the side roads. I was annoyed until he offered everyone a free transfer and called ahead to the next bus to hold for us. Turned out he saved me from standing on a frozen corner for 40 minutes waiting for a bus that might not even come. Has anyone else had a driver make a call that seemed rude but actually helped?

Oh man, that driver sounds like a real one! Its so easy to get mad in the moment when you think somebody is just messing with your plans. I had a driver do something similar once during a snowstorm, he rerouted everyone and I was fuming until I realized he took us around a pileup that woulda had me stuck for hours. Gotta admit, sometimes they see the whole picture way better than we do from our little seat. Glad you got home safe and warm, that free transfer and holding the bus was a solid move on his part. Honestly thats the kind of driver that deserves a raise.
