A client in Dallas swore their laptop was fried but it was just a 50 cent thermal pad.

They were ready to buy a whole new system until I popped it open and found the factory forgot one piece, so what's the dumbest fix you've found that saved a customer big money?

Spent a solid ten minutes trying to figure out why my monitor was dead... turns out the power strip switch was off. Felt pretty silly once I saw it. My brain just refused to see the obvious problem right in front of me. Those moments really make you question your own common sense.

Honestly, the best ones are always the free fixes. I had a guy convinced his brand new keyboard was broken. The num lock was just off. He was ready to drive back to the store over a toggle key.
