A customer in Reno handed me a zip bag of 47 screws and taught me a trick I still use on every teardown
A guy brought his dead laptop into the shop in Reno two weeks ago and dumped a bag of 47 loose screws on my bench with a grin. He said he takes a piece of painter's tape and lays each screw on it in the order he pulls them out, so he can just work backwards when it goes together. I laughed at first, then I watched him assemble it in about 15 minutes flat while I drank my coffee. I have been doing repairs for 6 years and had never seen that trick. Now I keep a roll of blue tape in my kit and my tear downs go way smoother, especially on those tiny Torx screws. Do you all have a customer or a mentor who showed you a trick you still swear by?
