After hauling my toolkit through airport security for a 'critical' emergency, I realized the issue was a user error. We need to rethink mandatory travel for basic fixes!

I read an article that called this "carbon copy" travel, where people just go through the motions. It's like we're stuck in a habit of booking flights for every little thing. The planet can't afford that kind of autopilot thinking anymore.

A Gartner study found 30% of on-site trips are unnecessary.

Seriously, @kim_johnson51, that stat hits home. It's part of this bigger pattern where companies cling to old-school, in-person routines without questioning efficiency. Like, how many times have people driven hours for a meeting that could've been an email or a video call? All that wasted fuel and time adds up, contributing to traffic and pollution. Honestly, it feels like a holdover from when face-to-face was the only option, but now we have tech to avoid it. We're just burning resources for no good reason.

Actually, some meetings really do need that face-to-face energy to solve tough problems or build real trust. Video calls just miss those subtle cues and shared focus you get in a room together, even if @kim_johnson51 is right about some trips being a total waste. The key is being smarter about which meetings are worth the drive.
