Had a client who insisted I replace his perfectly good power supply three times
I had a guy come into my shop last Tuesday with a PC that wouldn't boot. I tested the power supply with my multimeter and it was fine, voltages all within spec. He kept saying I was wrong and that it had to be the PSU because his friend told him so. After the second time swapping in a new unit with the same result, he finally let me check the motherboard. Turns out there was a bent pin in the CPU socket that was shorting the board. He stood there quiet for a solid minute then just walked out without paying for the diagnostic. Has anyone else had a customer fight you on basic troubleshooting even when the evidence is right there?

Hate it when pride gets in the way of common sense.

Did you at least keep the good power supply you pulled out so you can use it for another build? Sounds like that guy was too proud to admit his buddy gave him bad advice and he wasted your time.

Used to think keeping old parts was hoarding but you're absolutely right, totally changed my mind on that.
