Had a job in a dentist's office that went from bad to worse in under an hour.

Got called out to a small practice last Thursday because their main computer kept freezing. Opened it up and it was packed with a solid inch of dust and what looked like old tooth dust. The power supply fan was completely seized. I told the office manager it needed a full clean and a new PSU, but she insisted I just 'blow on it'. After arguing for 10 minutes, I got it running, only for their whole network to drop because a rat had chewed through the cable in the ceiling. What's the weirdest place you've found damage in a client's setup?

A rat chewed through the cable in a dentist office ceiling? That's wild. How does a rat even get up there in the first place.

@parker_price rats are surprisingly good climbers lol they can get up through holes in the walls or follow pipes up into drop ceilings. bet that office had a little snack stash somewhere too

You ever see how they can squeeze through gaps the size of a quarter? That's the creepy part. They've got these collapsible ribs and skulls that let them fit through tiny openings, so a loose ceiling tile or an unsealed pipe hole is basically an open door. Plus they're gnawing on things constantly to keep their teeth filed down, so drywall and cables are like free chew toys. A dropped granola bar wrapper in a desk drawer would seal the deal for them to set up shop up there.
