I finally quit using auto driver installs on business PCs
A recent job showed me how a bad driver can lock up a whole network. I now check each driver version manually before putting it on any machine. Do you take extra steps with drivers?

Are you sure that extra work is even worth it? Most of the time, the automatic updates just work fine and save a ton of hassle.

Love how automatic updates just handle everything. Saved me so many headaches over the years.

I mean, my friend lost a whole project file when an auto-update messed with his software. Just saying, sometimes that hassle finds you anyway.

Honestly, I gotta push back on "most of the time" from ellis.leo. "Most of the time" still means there's a real chance it breaks something. I've seen updates brick settings I had dialed in perfectly, and then I'm stuck hunting through menus to fix it. To sethm85, I'm glad it's saved them headaches, but I've had updates literally make my machine run slower until the next patch. That's not no hassle, that's a different kind of hassle you didn't ask for. black.alice's story is exactly why I stay on manual - I'd rather pick when to deal with it than get surprised by it. Just my two cents on the other side.
