Just realized how much soldering has changed in 15 years
Started in 2005 using a $20 iron from RadioShack and those big spools of leaded solder. Now I'm using a Hakko with fine tip and lead-free stuff for laptop board work. Anyone else miss the old days when stuff was easier to fix?

Honestly, is it really that big of a deal? People act like soldering is this impossible art now because the temp has to be a little higher. I've used both leaded and lead-free for years and it's not like you have to learn brain surgery. Yeah, you might need a better iron but that's a one-time thing. Most of the complaints just sound like people not wanting to change their habits. I think it's blown way out of proportion.
