Pro tip: a retired tech in Tucson told me to always ask if the customer rebooted before I drive anywhere
He said half his callbacks over 20 years were just a hard power cycle, and I laughed it off till I counted 3 wasted trips to Mesa in one month, so now I ask that one thing on the phone first, has anyone else had a dispatcher push back on that?
Did the dispatcher actually give you a hard time about it, or was it more of a sigh and a whatever? Because I get why they would push back, they are looking at the board and all they see is a slot to fill. But you are the one eating the drive time and the gas, so it makes sense you would want to screen the easy ones out first. Three trips to Mesa in one month would have me asking too, that is a lot of windshield time for something a customer could fix by unplugging a box for thirty seconds. I have started doing the same thing and honestly the pushback is worth it, a five minute phone call beats a two hour round trip every single time.
