Pro tip: stop using the same thermal paste for every single laptop repair
I keep seeing techs in our shop grab the same tube of Arctic Silver 5 for everything from a basic Dell Inspiron to a high end gaming rig. That stuff is fine for desktops, but it's way too thick for the tiny heat pipes in something like a 2023 Razer Blade. I switched to a thinner paste like Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut for laptops and saw a 5 degree drop on average. What paste do you guys use for thin and light systems?

Agree with the general idea but want to add a small point. The thickness, or viscosity, is the real issue, not just the brand. Some pastes from the same brand can be too thick or thin for certain jobs. For thin laptops, you need a paste that pumps out less under the heat and pressure changes. I've had good luck with Honeywell PTM pads for those really compact systems where even thin paste can be a problem over time.

Yeah, @dianahayes is totally right about viscosity being the key thing. It's easy to just grab a popular brand and not check if it's the right type for a tight space. Those pump-out issues in thin laptops are so real, and a pad can be a lifesaver. It makes me double-check the specs on any paste now, not just the brand name. Getting the thickness wrong can ruin your temps no matter how good the paste is supposed to be.

My Kryonaut Extreme stays put in thin laptops.
