Remember when you had to actually open a case to see what was inside?

I was at a computer show in Atlanta about 15 years ago, helping a friend build a gaming rig. We bought a motherboard that the seller swore was compatible with his old RAM. Got it home, opened the case, and the slots were completely different. Had to drive back the next day and swap it. Now I just check the part number online before I even leave the house. How many times did you get burned before you started double-checking specs on your phone?

I used to just guess, but a bad fit once taught me to always check the specs first.

That one wrong motherboard purchase changed how I shop for parts now.
