Saw a server rack with no cable management at a client site last Thursday

Tbh I walked into a small office in Phoenix and their server rack looked like a spaghetti monster exploded. Power cables mixed with ethernet, zip ties everywhere, and one drive was just hanging by its SATA cable. I spent 3 hours rerouting everything and labeling it all. Has anyone else seen a setup that bad and just had to stop and breathe before fixing it?

Walked into a dentist office once where the switch was literally taped to the ceiling tile.

Yep @fiona985 that reminds me of a laundromat I went to once where the light switch was just dangling from the ceiling by a wire, no box or anything. The owner had it wrapped in electrical tape and stuck to a pipe. Place was a dump but the dryers worked alright. I still think about that wiring job whenever I hear about janky construction.

I read somewhere that a lot of old buildings just have light switches wherever they ended up during construction. Probably a contractor who didn't want to run new wire through the ceiling. Sounds like they just gave up and went with it.
