That one client who argued with me for 45 minutes about a faulty power supply

Had a guy bring in a desktop last month that kept randomly shutting down. I tested everything and found the PSU was delivering 11.2V on the 12V rail instead of 12V. He told me I was lying and that his 'gamer friend' said it's fine. I showed him the multimeter readings and he still blamed the motherboard. After I swapped the PSU and the PC ran stable for 3 days in my shop, he finally paid. Has anyone else dealt with customers who just refuse to accept basic hardware diagnostics?

Oh man, the "gamer friend" thing always gets me. I read this article once about how people trust their buddy's opinion over a professional who's literally holding a multimeter. Like, yeah your friend says it's fine but he's not the one dealing with random shutdowns every 20 minutes. I had a similar situation where a guy kept insisting his RAM was fine because it passed a quick boot test, even though I showed him the error logs from MemTest. Sometimes you just gotta let them take it home and have it crash three more times before they come back. The multimeter doesn't lie, but people sure do love pretending it does.
