Unpopular opinion: the 8 second rule for laptop fan screws saved me a comeback ticket
Found a teardown writeup from an iFixit contributor who says most stripped laptop screws happen in the first 8 seconds because people rush the break-loose turn. Been using that pause on every fan cleaning in Fairfax since March and I have not stripped one yet, so has anyone else timed their first turn or am I just late to this?
The pause idea works even better if you put the driver on the screw and give it a light tap first, helps break the thread lock before you turn. I started doing that on Dell fans at my shop in Arlington and the first turn goes way smoother.
