Changed my mind on the old steel trowel vs the new magnesium one
For years I stuck with my trusty steel trowel, thinking the lighter magnesium ones were just for show. Then I did a 1,200 sq ft garage floor in Phoenix last month with a Marshalltown magnesium trowel and my shoulder wasn't screaming the next day. What other tools have you guys switched to that made a real difference?

That shoulder thing is real, magnesium is easier to lift. But for a hard finish, steel just can't be beat. The weight helps you burn it in right. I tried a magnesium trowel once and felt like I was just skating on top. Went right back to my old steel one for the final passes.

That "skating on top" feeling is why I keep a steel trowel in my kit for the final burn.
