Guy at the supply yard in Tulsa waved me off when I said I finish with a float, and he was right
Stopped by the supply yard on 11th last Tuesday for a new hand float and the older guy behind the counter watched me load it up and just shook his head. He told me he finished 30 years of driveways with nothing but a magnesium float and a steel trowel, and that I was wasting my time chasing a plastic finish on broom work. I laughed it off, but then I poured a 12x20 patio on Friday and left the float in the truck the whole time. Best finish I have pulled all spring, no swirl marks, cream stayed put, edges came out clean on the first pass. Anybody else drop a tool they swore by after one conversation with somebody who has been doing this longer?
