Hot take: I spent $150 on a laser screed rental and it was a total waste for a small garage pad.
Everyone says you need a laser screed for a perfect finish, but on a 20x24 foot slab, the setup time killed us. We spent over an hour getting it dialed in, and by then the mix was starting to set up in the truck. My crew of three could have bull floated that area just as fast and saved the cash. Has anyone else found these tools only pay off on much bigger pours?

Honestly, my contractor buddy says the same thing about those things for small jobs.

Contractors always have the strongest opinions on gear. Mine refuses to use anything but his old hammer for trim work. Says the new stuff is all overpriced junk. Guess some habits just stick for life.

Ever try just buying him a new hammer that looks exactly like the old one? Mine didn't even notice the swap for a week.
