Just realized I hit 45 driveways in one season, that's a record for me
Been finishing concrete for about 9 years now, mostly residential in the Phoenix area. This past spring I counted up my jobs between March and May and it came to 45 separate driveways, plus a few patios and walkways. I never thought of myself as a high volume guy, but that number surprised me when I added it up. It mattered because it showed me my routine and pricing are finally where they need to be. I used to turn down work because I figured I couldn't handle the schedule, but now I know I can push a bit more. The key was prepping forms the night before and having a solid crew of two guys who know my methods. Anyone else ever track their seasonal numbers and find out they were doing way more than they thought? What did you do with that info?}

Man, that’s wild. 45 is no joke, especially in Phoenix where the sun is trying to kill you half the year. I was doing residential flatwork up in Colorado for a while and one summer I tallied up 30 pads, thought I was hot stuff. Then I realized I was only counting the ones I actually poured, not the ones I bid and lost. That kinda messed with my head for a bit because I thought I was busier than I really was. When you see the real number, it forces you to look at your pricing and if you’re leaving money on the table. I ended up bumping my rates by 15% the next season and still hit the same volume, so that was a good kick in the pants. Just don’t get too cocky with that kind of count, because one bad crew member or a week of rain can throw everything off.
