Noticed a huge difference in driveway finishes after switching to a 10-foot bull float
I used to use a 4-footer for everything, thinking it was fine. Then last month on a job in Raleigh, the old guy I sub for handed me his 10-foot magnesium float and said try this. The surface was way flatter with way less work, and I didn't have to go back over it as much. Has anyone else made that switch and noticed how much easier it is to get a nice finish?

Hate to be the one guy who disagrees but I went back to a 6 footer after trying a 10. The bigger float leaves too much water on the surface for my liking and I got more checking and small cracks on a few jobs. Felt like I had less control too, especially working around edges and tightening up the cream. Might just be my mix or my technique, but the 10 foot float made things worse for me not better.

Yeah man, it's crazy what a difference that extra size makes. Used a 4 footer for years and thought I was doing fine till I tried a 8 footer, now I'd never go back. Way less arm work and the finish just comes out so much cleaner.

Ngl that 4 to 8 foot jump is night and day. Made the same switch painting my uncle's barn last summer, went from hating every second to actually kinda enjoying it. Now I'm eyeing a 10 footer even though I don't really need it.
