Old timer in Phoenix told me I was burning my cream too fast
Switched to a triple trowel technique after he showed me how much smoother a 20x20 slab came out, anyone else get handed advice by a random guy on site that completely changed their finish?

...and the guy just walks off after handing me a trowel like it was nothing. I was fighting with a 4x4 slab for two hours once, getting those stupid ridges and air pockets. This old roofer saw me, grabbed my float, and just showed me how to do a figure-eight pattern with a wet sponge instead of dragging it straight. Total game changer for me. Now I can't even look at a dry sponge without thinking about that guy.

Hot take: figure eights vs straight drags is just personal preference. Dragging straight gives you a better texture for bonding if you're doing a second layer later. Sponges just make everyone think they're a pro.
