My 'proof' folder was just me collecting my own echo chamber

Spent about 4 years deep in the chemtrail rabbit hole, saving every screenshot and blog post into a folder called 'evidence'. Last month I tried to show my buddy Dave at a bar in Austin why the streaks over his house were suspicious, and he just pulled up a flight radar app on his phone. Watching the actual plane paths line up with the clouds I was pointing at made me freeze mid-sentence. I realized I had never once checked a live flight tracker or even looked up how contrails form in cold air. Every single thing I saved was from people who already agreed with me, zero outside sources. That moment was like a switch flipping, my whole 'research method' was just validating what I wanted to be true. Has anyone else had that gut-check where one piece of public data nukes their whole collection?

Question whether blowing up a hobby folder over one app is really a gut-check or just a bad night... I mean, flight trackers are neat and all, but a few cloudy streaks don't automatically erase four years of stuff you found interesting. It's more like you traded one rabbit hole for another, honestly.
