Pro tip: A guy at the Denver meetup said my evidence board looked like a crazy person's wall

He pointed out I was using red string to connect everything, which made my research on local zoning changes seem unhinged. I switched to colored pushpins and a simple spreadsheet, and people actually started listening to the data. How do you present weird connections without looking like you belong in a movie?

Denver zoning changes are not exactly a spy thriller plot. The red string is a visual cliche for a reason, it screams conspiracy theory. Honestly, if your data is solid, it should stand up with basic charts or a clean map. Maybe the problem was the presentation, not the connections.

Exactly. Good data doesn't need a mood board.

The "visual cliche" point is right, but sometimes a weird map is the clearest way to show a real pattern.
