Remember when people used to check the original news clip before sharing a conspiracy?
I saw a video going around last week claiming a politician said something wild in 2019. It took me five minutes to find the full, unedited C-SPAN footage on YouTube, and the quote was totally taken out of context. Back in the early 2010s, most folks in these debates would at least try to find the source. Now, I see the same clipped video shared over and over with zero fact-checking. It matters because it makes the whole conversation pointless if we're not even starting from the same facts. How do you get people to care about the original clip again?

Why not just link the source in the comments?

Yeah, the "just link it" thing... it feels like part of a bigger problem where people want the answer without any of the work. It's like asking for a summary instead of reading the article yourself. I see it everywhere now, not just here. People get annoyed if you make them click one more link, even if that's where the actual info is. It's just easier to demand someone else do the last step for you.
