Spent $80 on a so-called 'emergency preparedness kit' and it was basically a scam
I bought one of those pre-made emergency kits off Amazon for $80 after hearing about some storm warnings last spring. Opened it up when I actually needed it and the flashlight didn't even work, the first aid kit had like 10 band-aids, and the water pouches tasted like plastic. Complete waste of money when I could have just thrown together my own stuff for half the cost. Has anyone else gotten burned by those all-in-one survival kits?

Rings true with buying anything "pre made" these days, corners always get cut somewhere.

Honestly how serious were these storm warnings anyway? I feel like people get hyped about a little bad weather and suddenly we're all preppers. Maybe $80 is just the price of learning that Amazon kits are junk.

Just a heads up those MRE water pouches always taste like plastic even in military kits, it's the pouch material that gives it that flavor. For $80 you're better off just buying a good flashlight and some bottled water separately next time.
