That buddy who swore the moon landing was faked in a studio in Arizona

My coworker Dave kept trying to convince me the Apollo missions were filmed on a soundstage near Sedona. He said he had 'proof' from a YouTube video with 500k views. After months of arguing, I actually went and read the NASA transcripts myself. Turns out there's way too much independent data from other countries tracking those missions. Have any of you actually dug into the original telemetry data?

Did any of those other countries ever say they lost track of the Apollo capsules?

Another angle I haven't seen brought up is the practical side of lighting. If you watch the Apollo footage, the shadows from the lunar module and the astronauts don't run parallel. On Earth with a single light source like the sun, shadows are supposed to go in the same direction. But on the Moon you have sunlight bouncing off the uneven surface, plus the fact the ground itself reflects light differently. It creates that weird shadow spread. A studio setup in Arizona would have needed multiple lights to fake that, and the odds of them getting it that consistent across all six landings are pretty much zero. You'd think if they were faking it, they would've made the shadows match up like they do everywhere on Earth. That detail alone convinced a few of my friends who were really skeptical.

Yeah @the_joseph, that's actually a really good point - I looked into it too and there's accounts from Soviet tracking stations that never lost signal on Apollo 11. I mean, if it was fake you'd think at least one rival country would've called them out by now.
