That one stat about JFK's motorcade route still bugs me

I was digging through old news archives last night and found out the Dallas police actually had 4 different route options for the motorcade, but they picked the one with the sharp turn at Dealey Plaza. The report said it was the slowest route by 3 minutes compared to the others. Always wondered if anyone ever questioned why they went with that specific path. Anybody else come across records that just stick with you?

Wait, has nobody ever dug deeper into why they chose that route over the others? That 3 minute time difference is huge when you think about how slow they were going through that turn... I've seen a few memos from the Warren Commission that mention the Secret Service had concerns about the speed of the motorcade through that area, but they never really explained why they didn't just pick the faster route. It's one of those details that just sits in the back of your mind and never quite settles right.

It's always the tiny inconvenient details that trip up the official story. Three minutes is an eternity when you're talking about something that sensitive.

Isn't it always the little weird details that make you wonder what else got brushed under the rug?
