The 13th floor thing is real but not for the reason everyone thinks
I manage an office building in Denver and we had to renumber the whole elevator panel because tenants kept complaining about the 13th floor. Funny part is, we skipped it on the original plans anyway, so the actual 13th level is labeled 14. Last month I counted the utility bills per floor and the so called 14th floor had 22% less elevator usage than any other floor. People avoid it even when they dont know its there. I think the hesitation is baked into how we navigate buildings, not superstition. Has anyone else seen real behavior shifts around a skipped number or is this just a Denver quirk?
