The whole "birds aren't real" thing seemed so dumb until I saw that website...
I laughed at that gag for years, but then I actually read through the lore on their site... it's way too detailed and specific for a joke, you know? There's a whole timeline of government bird replacements starting in the 60s... now I can't look at pigeons the same way. Has anyone else fallen down that rabbit hole?

Check the tags on their collars. Some have serial numbers.

Yeah, I actually had a rescue that came in with a tag that had a tiny QR code on the back... scanned it and it linked to a database with the breeder info and a serial number. So definitely worth checking under the tag or even around the rim where it might be stamped. I found a hidden number on one of my own dogs that way, just by feeling around the edges.
