A rigger in Tulsa said my 3 chain binders were 'one for show, two for go'
Was strapping down a mini excavator on my 20 ton tag trailer out near Tulsa when an old rigger walked by. He said most guys run 4 binders for looks, but 3 tight ones on the corners is all you really need. I've been hauling iron for 11 years and never heard it put that way. Watched him check my load, he pushed on the bucket and nothing moved. Now I'm wondering if I've been overdoing it on binders this whole time. Any of you run 3 and feel good about it?
Had a buddy run two binders on the rear of a 305 mini and one up front for years, swore by it. Then one day he hit a big dip on 412 and watched the bucket shift about a foot sideways in his mirror. He pulled over white as a sheet and threw a fourth binder on right there on the shoulder. Guy told me later the three binder thing works fine till it doesn't.
