My old binder chain setup vs ratchet binders on the lowboy, no contest
Hauled a Cat 320 excavator from Amarillo to Lubbock last Friday and used my old binder chains like always. Halfway there I stopped to check them and two were already loose from the vibration, so I had to crank them down again in the cold. Borrowed a buddy's ratchet binders for the ride home and they never budged once the whole 120 miles. I know ratchets cost more but after that trip I'm never going back to chains for anything over 10,000 lbs. Anyone else made that switch, or do you still run chains on certain loads?

My buddy lost a track hoe off his trailer with chains, lucky nobody died.
