Serious question, did you know a lowboy trailer needs a permit in almost every state once you pass 12 feet wide?
I got flagged for it hauling an excavator down to a job in Ohio and the DOT guy told me 12 feet is the magic number, so my machine plus tracks put me over and I had no clue. I was running on the idea that if it fit on the deck I was fine, and that cost me a fine and half a day sitting on the shoulder off I-71. Now I'm second guessing every load I've done in the past 6 months because I never once measured the width, just the weight. How are you all handling width permits, do you pull them for every move or only when you know you're pushing it?
