That load binder check paid off on I-80 last Tuesday
I was strapping down a mini excavator near Omaha when an older driver walked over and pointed at my binders, said "son, if you click that ratchet one more time you're gonna snap the hook." He showed me how to seat the chain link flat before tensioning, and it made the whole ride feel solid. Has anyone else had a random veteran offer a tip that just stuck with you?

Laughing at myself because I've definitely been that guy cranking down on a ratchet like I'm trying to win a prize. Had an old crane operator wave me over once and tell me my chain was twisted worse than my back after a long day. He spent five minutes fixing it and I still think about that whenever I hear a weird creak on the trailer. My own load looked fine to me, but he saw it like a hawk sees a field mouse. Now I double check every link and honestly, my equipment lasts longer and my nerves are way better too.
