Wrapped my first excavator bucket with a strap over the top instead of through the teeth, and it did not budge a inch on I-75
Hauled a 12 ton mini ex from a job in Flint down to a buddy in Toledo last Saturday. For the last 3 hauls I ran the chain through the bucket teeth like I always did. Every bump it would clank and shift and I was stopping twice a trip to check it. This time a older driver at the yard said just throw the strap over the top of the bucket and crank it down. Took me 30 extra seconds. That machine sat dead still for 120 miles. No clank. No shifting. I checked once at a rest stop and the strap was still tight as when I left. Feel kinda dumb it took me this long to try it. Any of you run over the top or do you still go through the teeth?
