Coffee with a seasoned PM changed my drone mapping setup

Met up with an old project manager from Turner last Thursday and he pointed out I was wasting time flying too high on my site surveys. He said he learned to keep it under 200 feet for foundation work because you get way better detail on rebar layouts and slab edges. I'd been cruising at 400 feet for 6 months and missing all that precision. Has anyone else adjusted their flight height after a convo like that?

Oh man, I’ve been flying so high my maps look like satellite images of a different planet!

Nah, Beth's got it right. Sat nav maps look like alien planets when you're up that high. Everything turns into weird patterns and unknown shapes. The trees look like broccoli from 30,000 feet. It's a whole different perspective.

Wait, wait. I think you mean satellite images look like your maps, not the other way around. Unless your GPS is taking pics of Mars or something.
