Dropped $200 on a project management app and it somehow made things slower
I signed up for Buildertrend for a new condo project in Nashville, but between the setup time and the team ignoring the notifications, I think I actually lost 3 days of progress has anyone else had a software tool just create more busywork?

Isn't that just user error though, not really the app's fault?

Agreeing with you but also kind of disagreeing, I see this same attitude everywhere lately. People blame the user for not knowing how to do something that should be obvious or built into the system. It's like when you go to a store and the shelves aren't labeled right, then the cashier gets annoyed you can't find stuff. Or when a website has a confusing checkout process and they call it "user error" when you almost buy the wrong thing. The bigger pattern is that companies stop thinking about the actual person using their stuff. They design for ideal users who never make mistakes, but real life is messy and people are busy and distracted. Apps and products should work for normal humans, not just power users who read every manual.

Hold on, is this really that big of a deal? Most people figure out basic apps and checkout flows just fine. Sure, maybe once in a while a button is hidden weird or something, but that's not some huge conspiracy from companies to trick you. Maybe it's just a person making an honest mistake, not some deep design failure.
