Finally got the drone photogrammetry mesh to line up with the site survey after 4 tries this morning
Last month I was off by almost 2 feet on a foundation layout in Austin because my ground control points were off, but after watching a webinar from a guy out of Denver I realized I was averaging the wrong gps readings, has anyone else run into that issue with the rtk module drifting mid-flight?

Maybe it's just me but I swear my RTK drone has a personal vendetta against me some mornings. I spent an entire afternoon chasing a 1-foot shift on a culvert survey before realizing I'd left the base station on top of a metal utility box. The webinar guy out of Denver sounds like he knows his stuff though, I might have to look that one up because my ground control points usually cause the most grief. At least when you mess up a drone flight you can just fly again, try doing that with a busted foundation pour and see how fast the boss flips out.

Vendetta" is the perfect word for it lol @amy974. I once spent two hours recalibrating everything only to find my controller was in "simulation mode" the whole time. Ground control points are like that friend who swears they're fine but then ruins your whole day.

Is it just me or does every job have that one simple thing that always bites you in the ass? Like my buddy who works construction says it's always the level that's slightly off, not the cuts. I've got a buddy who fixes cars and he says nine times out of ten it's a loose wire, not the actual engine problem. We all chase these big complicated solutions when it's always that little stupid thing we forgot to check first. Ground control points, metal utility boxes, simulation mode... it's like life's way of keeping you humble.

Is it really that serious though? I mean yeah it's annoying when you spend two hours chasing something dumb, but it's not like the drone's out to get you personally. @king.robin made a good point about how every trade has that one little thing that messes with you, and this just seems like the drone version of that. You could just as easily pin it on not double checking your setup rather than some vendetta. Don't get me wrong, I've stared at a screen wondering why nothing lines up, but most times it's just me being in a hurry.
