GPS said the excavator was there, it wasn't, lost 2 hours
On a site in Austin last month, the locates were all marked but the utility lines were 3 feet off from the map. I pulled up the as-built PDFs on my phone and cross-referenced with a cheap laser level, found the real path and saved the crew from hitting a gas main.
