Lost a week of drone footage because I ignored the log files

After a 12 day job near Austin, the SD card corrupted and wiped every inspection clip because the drone kept writing errors for 4 days and I never checked the app. I now download footage every single night to a hard drive, has anyone else had a card fail mid-project like this?

That 30 gig drive from my last project saved my butt after a similar scare, I had a card that burned out mid-shoot in Vegas and lost an entire morning of shots. Lesson learned, now I treat every file transfer like it's the last one. You ever try those cheap card readers, they seem to die faster than the cards themselves?

Yeah so this exact thing happened to my buddy last fall, he was on a gig in Portland and his cheap reader just nuked the whole card. He thought he was being smart with a spare one but those things are garbage, they fried his backup too. Now he literally carries three different readers from different brands and tests them before every single shoot. @patricia558 you're spot on, the cheap ones are worse than no backup sometimes. He ended up having to reshoot an entire wedding and the client was not happy about it, cost him way more than a decent reader would have. I swear by the same rule now, every transfer is a do or die moment.
