My foreman told me my drone scans for the fence line were useless without the right geotags, so now I always double-check the coordinate system before I fly.
He said 'I can't drop a single post if your data just floats in space, Nina,' which made me add a 5-minute pre-flight check to sync the drone's GPS with our site's base map, saving a whole re-scan day last Thursday.

A similar thing happened with our site's laser level. The crew kept getting bad readings because the battery was low, making the laser dim. We started a morning power check that seems too simple, but it fixed the problem for good.

That "seems too simple" part is so true. We almost overthink these things. We added a quick battery swap to our tool check now, like fresh ones go in every Monday. It stops that slow fade during the day that you don't even notice until your lines are off. Simple routines beat smart fixes most of the time.

But what if the routine itself is the overthink? Swapping batteries every Monday is still a guess. You're just guessing they'll die on a Tuesday. Carter.casey's crew had it right with a morning check. That's based on the tool's actual state, not a calendar. A battery can be fine for two weeks or die in three days. A quick voltage test each morning takes ten seconds and you know for sure. Simple is good, but smart simple is better.
