Warning: my old PM's paper log beat our new app on a 12,000 sq ft job in Fort Worth
Last week I was cleaning out a trailer and found my old project manager's paper log from a 12,000 sq ft job in Fort Worth we did back in 2019. He tracked every RFI, change order, and submittal in a smeared notebook with a golf pencil. I remember thinking it was a joke at the time. Now we run everything through a cloud system with dashboards and push alerts, and we still missed a steel delivery last month because the note got buried in 40 notifications. I sat there flipping through his pages and saw he wrote down the day the glazier showed up late three times. That notebook had no search bar, no sync, no API, but it never lost a note. It made me wonder if we added all this software and just moved the mess somewhere else. What did your team do to actually make the new system stick instead of becoming another inbox?
