Wasted $300 on a drone mapping tool that barely worked

Bought a fancy drone mapping software for site surveys 2 months ago. Cost me $300 and it crashed every time I tried to process a 10-acre lot. Went back to my old free photogrammetry app and it handled everything fine. Anyone else get burned by overhyped construction tech?

Why do companies always make you pay top dollar for stuff that barely even works? It's like they rush garbage out the door just to cash in before anyone notices. I've seen this same pattern with smart home gadgets and even car software - the cheap or free versions are often more reliable because they've been around longer and gotten the bugs fixed. $300 is a lot to throw away on something that can't do the basics right, especially when free alternatives handle it better. Feels like a lot of "premium" tech these days is just hype and a pretty website.

What exactly makes you keep buying if you already expect it to fail?
