Can we talk about the client who told me my blending was trash?

A lady straight up said my shadow roots looked like muddy stripes, and she was right. I switched to a finer slicing technique and started using a darker demi for the midshaft, and now my blends actually look seamless. What's one critique that actually made you better at your craft?

Take the ego hit and own it. That's the only way you actually get better. I've seen this pattern everywhere in life not just hair. People who can't handle being told they're wrong stay average forever. It's like that cook who gets defensive when someone says their steak is overcooked versus the one who listens and stops burning it. Same with dads who refuse to ask for directions. The moment you stop being scared of being wrong is when you start learning stuff for real. Your client did you a favor even if it stung. Most people tip around the truth or just never come back instead of giving you that real talk.

Ha, so true. I've definitely burned a few metaphorical steaks myself.
