DAE know about the 20 minute rule on relaxer timing in the TDLR handbook?
I was flipping through the Texas cosmetology rules book last week for a renewing question and found a line that says chemical relaxers need a patch test at least 24 hours before, which my old school never mentioned once. That part didn't surprise me as much as the follow up about not leaving a relaxer on past the maker's max time, no matter how stubborn the hair looks. I asked two stylists at my salon in Plano and neither of them knew it was actually spelled out in writing, they just did it by feel. Makes me wonder how many of us are running on habit instead of the book, so what's a rule you found in the handbook that nobody ever taught you?
