DAE see stylists wiping down clippers with disinfectant spray and calling it done?
I watched a newer stylist at a shop in Reno spray her clippers with a surface cleaner, wipe them once, and move to the next client. She did this 6 times in a row without ever taking the blade off. Here is the thing: hair and skin cells pack into the blade housing, and a quick spray never reaches that gunk. I found this out the hard way years ago when a client got folliculitis on the back of her neck and my state board inspector asked to see my blade cleaning routine. Now I pop the blade off, brush out the debris, and soak in an EPA registered disinfectant for the full contact time on the label, which is usually 10 minutes, not 10 seconds. If your clippers sit wet in a jar without the blade removed, you are basically marinating bacteria. How are you all handling clipper care between clients on a busy Saturday?
